ROSEWOOD MAYAKOBA
Rosewood Mayakoba which is situated in the ultra exclusive Mayakoba enclave was next up on my whirl around the Riviera Maya!
Ok, now this is slick, beachside glamour… stressed out NYC financiers, celebrity types and luxe conscious travellers flock to this sparkling beachside resort for a taste of high resort glamour in decadent beachside surroundings.
Six star amenities abound within the well manicured grounds where the very private villas are dotted around the 1600 acre luxury resort enclave estate…either situated on waterways filled with native flora, birds and wildlife or along the beachfront and all villas come with plunge pools for some well-earned afternoon cooling off. I was appointed a Deluxe Overwater Lagoon Suite that included everything I needed for a very lavish stay including Bose iPod dock, espresso machine etc… You get the picture… Oh and all villas come with your very own butler (and yes they will unpack for you!).
The Sense Spa here at Rosewood Mayakoba is simply out of this world, combining both water and earth design elements to reflect the soul of the Riviera Maya, the spa is situated very privately at the heart of the resort. It’s here I managed to squeeze in one of my rare trips trip to their well equipped gym! (That’s for my trainer Ryan!) Got to at least attempt to stay fit on vacay right?
Sunny days were spent beachside tasting assorted ceviche’s and fish tacos while sipping margaritas, and (of course) lolling around my vast waterfront suite. Nights were spent dining on the terrace of Casa del Lago, the fine dining restaurant (you can breakfast here also) that rises above the central pool…now this was a very grown up affair! I opted to venture away from the local cuisine and instead enjoyed the Wild Mushroom Tortellini… YUM! After dinner I returned to my perfectly turned down suite and to my very own monogrammed pillow cases – now that’s clever luxury!
