AMANSARA
What’s left to say about one of Siem Reap’s chicest retreats?
Yes, it plays host to celebrities and the world’s movers and shakers in distinct yet understated luxury in what is the stylish, former guest residence of King Sihanouk. The hotel’s mid-century modern architecture has a pared-back style, a perfect city- centre location on the road to Angkor Wat and provides guests with personal, insider access to the best of the best in Siem Reap.
THE MAGIC
Think exclusive access to ancient temples that will take your breath away as the sun rises followed by a private breakfast in an authentic village house nearby… all executed in that superb Aman style. I’d suggest visiting a temple a day across a five night stay… You really need five nights to see it all!
TO DO
Days are hot, so you will need to head out early to explore the temples of Angkor Wat… then motor back to Amansara to lunch and flop poolside (Aman tuk tuks are on standby to whisk you wherever and whenever you need to go!). The hotel can suggest evening dinner and cocktail destinations but make sure you head to Miss Wong where decadent cocktails flow.
WHAT I LOVED
The hotel’s Aman Spa would have to be one of the most beautiful I have seen. Pick up one of the signature oils to take home, the Essence Vara is my fave. And when you book with me a 60 minute massage is complimentary!
The legendary GM Sally Baughen (whom I count as a dear friend) and her team will take the very best care of you… guiding you daily on what to see and do. (Who knew a circus could be so fab??)
Sally has the latest on where to shop and eat in what still feels like an undiscovered city. It’s been a while since I have been anywhere that feels so under the radar, yet so chic.
