My weekend in New Zealand, way way up in the picture perfect Bay of Islands ends at The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, the much talked about luxury lodge that sits on 6,000 acres of pristine private land that’s all green rolling hills, sophisticated luxury accommodation and home to a par 72 PGA championship golf course designed and built by David Harman (yes I organise bespoke luxury golfing holidays too!)
The lodge itself is the central part of the retreat where you meet and mingle in the spectacular sitting room with chic international guests and it’s here you can expect to dine in a very chic dining room on spectacular gourmet a la carte cuisine with a global wine list to match. Kauri Cliffs is Relais & Chateaux certified naturally!
Nestled in native forest nearby to the main lodge are the accommodation cottages, these large, ultra chic and comfortable suites are more than you need and the perfect retreat to flop from your day of golfing, spa treatments , bush walks and beach hikes! Large spaces combining a bedroom and sitting room have views for days and a lovely private porch to enjoy and the bathrooms are just what you would expect from a lodge of this luxury… big and luxurious!
Pristine natural luxury is the draw card here at Kauri Cliffs along with the championship golf and luxe spa services. Come here if you are looking for super service, indulgent luxury in complete privacy with fab food to match. Rates include a hearty breakfast (the gluten-free local sausages were to die for!), pre-dinner cocktails (a nice New Zealand sparkling anyone?) and dinner including a degustation menu if you so desire! As this is grown-up glamour, gentlemen are required to wear a jacket during cocktails and dinner. Told you it was glam!
An infinity pool next door to the main lodge is spectacular and private so pack your Orlebar Browns for some serious lounging and with three private beaches to explore you can also spend your days sunbathing and combing Pink Beach for shells.
Chopper into Kauri Cliffs from Auckland or your previous lodge like I did, it’s truly breathtaking and a wonderful way to experience the sheer natural beauty of the Bay of Islands.
Book your stay with me to receive exclusive amenities such as:
- Early check-in / late check-out (subject to availability)
- Upgrade on arrival (subject to availability)
- A USD100 spa credit to be utilised during your stay.
Just what you need… more luxury touches!
My next adventure in November will be at their sister property Matakauri Lodge in Queenstown, way down on the South Island, stay following Where’s Brent Been for that one!
