LE SIRENUSE, POSITANO
I have had a frantic week pulling together and creating fabulous itineraries for the European summer, from Como to Puglia, St Jean Cap Ferrat to Capri and every glamorous beachside destination in between, and I can’t help but stop and reminisce about Positano and my favourite hotel there, the legendary Le Sirenuse.
With breathtaking views from the terrace, the swimming pool has been photographed a million times but you will never get enough of that view all wrapped up in absolute luxury. The hotel featured in the 1994 movie ‘Only You’, starring Robert Downie Jnr and Marissa Tomei. I loved that movie and have watched it may times, it captures the glamorous spirit of the hotel. I think it’s romantic and funny…just like your very own stay will be.
My friend Antonio Sersale’s family have owned and managed this luxury hotel that has the atmosphere of a private home since 1951 when their charming house was then turned into a hotel. Luxury is expressed and delivered in whispered tones here, the ambience is chic and calm but decidedly ultra glamorous at the same time… and that’s hard to do!
It’s the kind of place you take that special someone for a week of indulgence and pampering. The rooms are classic luxury Italian in style…the food is superb and above all… Le Sirenuse simply has the best views in Positano, the photos don’t lie, it looks exactly the same in real life, trust me.
Get here quick, Positano is red-hot again (…but did its star ever really fade??). The Sersale family know and agree, they have been here for years and understand exactly how this all works. Le Sirenuse is understated glamour at it’s best and I couldn’t think of a better spoiling place to spend Summer in Europe. Check-in after your whirl around Paris and Rome! Positano will also work perfectly with Capri , how about a week in both? …. it couldn’t get much better than that!
