With all of this rain in Sydney (where did summer go??) it’s hard not to let the mind wander to more tropical , sunny climes….

Bali is one of those destinations that never fails to impress. Even if you think you have seen and done it all, Bali envelopes you with its warm scented air and gentle culture, you won’t fail but fall in  love with this island goddess.

I have traveled to Bali for more than 25 years and although I have seen a huge change in this time I still love to go back at any opportunity.

While new hot hotels such as W Resorts and St Regis pop up on the island (and they are beautiful), my heart will always belong to one of the Aman Resort’s iconic properties, the secluded seaside resort Amankila. Amankila is what I would regard as my perfect resort and my very favourite resort in the whole wide world. Amankila or ‘peaceful hill’ is an oasis of calm in the remote yet accessible regency of Karangasem, Bali’s most traditional regency. The area offers a host of activities from mountain biking and diving, to cultural excursions to temples and ancient water palaces. My favourite activity is to take the Aman XII, a 40ft vessel with its large sundeck and shaded area for a morning cruise and snorkeling adventure in “the blue lagoon”.

The original architecture of the resort including the suites with their alang alang roof thatching (fashioned as beach houses with a twist) and the signature, three-tiered pool that has graced the covers of many travel magazines (and hot hotel lists worldwide) keeps me at peace and very, very happy. Take a poolside bale for the day and prove me wrong!

My friend Tracey Atherton the beautiful GM  at Amankila will help me make your stay  fabulous , contact me to find out more!
