Only in LA!

Poolside @ The Mondrian

I stopped in Los Angeles for two nights on the way to Las Vegas for Virtuoso (travel) Week. I love spending time in LA, I always have. I got to check into the (still) uber chic Mondrian Los Angeles and enjoy the California sun on the fabulous Mondrian Pool Deck. It’s an all white expression of modern glamour, executed perfectly with that casual Californian charm and the service is top-notch too believe it or not! They are not too cool as to not care – another reason why I feel so comfortable here (and I never thought I would to be honest). I take a corner suite each time, overlooking the pool. Yes, it can be noisy till 2 am until the famous Skybar shuts but who cares? You are in LA and this city knows how to partay! Let’s have a Kiki!

The Eveleigh Los Angeles
The Patio @ Eveleigh Los Angeles

Best eats on this stay?? Two of my favourites …. first one being The Eveleigh on West Sunset Boulevard for super cool, farmhouse-chic style and delicious food served up designed to share. The Eveleigh is just down the road from The Mondrian so you can walk there easily and is owned by Sydney-sider Nick Mathers and Nick Hatsatouris who also own Kingswood in New York. You definitely need to call ahead and make a reservation for a table out on the best outdoor patio in LA or, if you are on your own, pop yourself up at the bar and make new friends while the boys mix you one of their unique cocktails.

Soho House West Hollywood
Soho House West Hollywood

The other place I dined and I love it, is the members club Soho House West Hollywood, Soho House was founded in London, in 1995, as a private members’ club for those in film, media and creative industries. The group has since expanded to include Houses across Europe and North America, as well as restaurants, cinemas, spas and hotels. Opened in spring 2010, Soho House West Hollywood is the second American House and occupies the top two floors of the 14-story, 9200 Sunset Boulevard, which of course comes with killer views of greater Los Angeles.

Read my blog about the third American House, Soho Beach House in South Beach Miami right here.

Roof garden @ Soho House
Roof Garden @ Soho House

There is a club bar and sitting room where you can always find a cosy corner or a private booth next to some hot young star or starlet. (I had dinner here on my last visit with a group of fabulous friends from Sydney and joining us was Michael C. Hall, the star of the television series Dexter …. the boys from Entourage even swung by to say hello… it’s that kind of place!).

Or you can eat in the Roof Garden, the chicest garden restaurant in the sky. A retractable roof seals the glamour level when on a warm starry LA night, you sit above it all and enjoy the excitement of this amazing city below. Getting in isn’t easy, you have to be member or be a guest of one….. either way, make it happen!

I have lots of ideas of where to stay (and where not too!), so contact me for help booking your next stay.
