Huvafen Fushi
Well, I have to admit that I did save the best till last on my Maldives Island hopping adventure. While I loved all the resorts I visited this trip, Huvafen Fushi is still one of my very favourite resorts in the Maldives. I visited the island resort three years ago and now it was time to visit again to see if this island stunner was as gorgeous as I remembered.

Huvafen was the first true luxury resort of its type when it opened (think über cool) when its iconic swimming pool graced the cover of many travel magazines world-wide (and still does!). Huvafen didn’t disappoint… its carefree, barefoot luxury is still beyond reproach and includes every luxurious facility you need. Famous for its underwater spa…a haven for relaxation, all in the surrounds of a coral garden wonderland…you definitely have to try it at last once! Team Huvafen really do deliver on that kind of hushed, high level island luxury you dream about. The sense of enchantment when you arrive and step foot onto the sand floor reception area is a real “aha” moment… you just get it and know you belong.

The island is quite beautiful and the resort decidedly chic and when it reopens in August after its refreshment, will be even more fabulous when the Overwater Bungalows (all with plunge pools) get a stylish makeover. Also there will be the addition of a new Champagne Bar that will be located near “Raw” restaurant… I will definitely be back for that!!
Oh and I LOVED the food at Raw with its innovative raw cuisine. It’s original, creative and natural.

I can’t tell you how fabulous this resort is… you just have to go and experience it! If you after a stylish retreat that you can sink yourself into for a week or more, this is it. I mingled with chic couples from Paris, London and Oman (poolside chatter was extremely glamorous and highly entertaining), snorkelled the beautiful house reef and even fed the stingrays (daily in the lagoon at sunset).
Huvafen really is for the young and the young at heart and of course all of this glamour doesn’t come cheap …but what decent luxury resort experience does? What I can tell you is that it’s worth every cent!!

I split my 5 night stay between an Ocean Bungalow (small nurse sharks swam below at night – don’t worry, they don’t bite!) and a Deluxe Beach Bungalow – this was my favourite category… they are large bungalows settled privately into lush gardens and opening right onto your very own private stretch of sand…heaven. These Deluxe Beach Bungalows (recently renovated) also have the most fabulous outdoor bathrooms with plunge pools…and large comfortable daybeds for lazing around on.
Contact me for help in organising your very own glamorous getaway. I have some very special offers for travel in August and September when the resort reopens. Come help them celebrate, you might just find me there poolside with you!
*A very special thank you to Alan Ball and the team at Huvafen Fushi for a stay I won’t forget.

Hiya… We’re 90% sure that this is the hotel for out Honeymoon! We originally had Constance Moofushi booked along with a hotel in Sri Lanka for just after our wedding in May 2012 we unfortunately had to cancel due to my health after only just finishing chemotherapy. however, We rebooked exactly the same holidays for April 2013 but again had to cancel THREE days before travel due to me being rediagnosed. Now I’ve finished treatments again and I’m allowed to travel come January 2015. We’re now thinking of Huvafen as we’re pushing the boot out a little more and have a fuck it sort of attitude now. Is this a good choice?!
