Dusit Thani Maldives

Next stop on my island hopping adventure through the exquisite Maldive islands was Dusit Thani Maldives in the northern Baa Atoll.

I touched down by seaplane and was immediately met by my butler Shaaz who would be looking after my every whim over the next 5 nights! Shaaz and the team whisked me across the bluest ocean to the island of Mudhdhooo and the brand new Dusit Thani Maldives, a landmark addition to the fast expanding Dusit brand and their first luxury resort outside of Thailand. On approach I was swept away by the raw natural beauty of this island. Very different to any of the other islands I visited… it is lush and exotic, and has a real desert island feel that I loved. The greenest of foliage reaches right to the water, the exact image you picture when you think “MIP” – Maldivian Island Paradise.

Dusit Thani Maldives is a sophisticated resort in picture perfect surroundings, it is encircled by a turquoise lagoon and a spectacular house reef that words cannot describe, you have to swim it to believe it!.

The resort is grown up barefoot luxury in traditional Maldivian style, its luxurious white washed beach villas scattered around the island were very private (and my personal favourite). Of course they also offer spectacular over water villas with plunge pools if you so desire!

My days at Dusit were spent snorkelling out on the house reef exploring its breathtaking crystal clear drop of … all of this directly out front of my luxurious villa… it really was fabulous. My Beachfront Villa (below) was pristine, extremely comfortable and included a collection of chic Molton Brown toiletries. I am addicted to the turndown gift of Sleep Cedrus by Molton Brown… a temple soother you apply at bed time sending you off into the deepest sleep, the fragrance still reminds me of those sunny, glorious days spent there.

The Sandbar was a favourite hangout for lunch…as much for the tasty beachclub food as for the delicious Caprioskas and Mojitos prepared by Mohammed (umm…definitely some of the best drinks of my trip…they always do taste better during the day don’t they?). You would find me there daily.

Dusit Thani’s signature Devarana Spa provides pampering and healing treatments with six treatment pods elevated in the treetops (.. for that authentic tree house feel) with an additional two below. I can highly recommend the “Detox” and “Relax” treatments that I experienced.

The resort being brand new when I visited was still settling into its groove, but I can tell you it is fabulous, “grown up chic”. It’s the perfect location for that family holiday, best friend get together and of course THAT honeymoon and did I mention it  boats the largest swimming pool in the Maldives? Well it does! (see below!)
