It’s been a while coming but Waikiki finally has the perfect alternative to the original Grand hotels such as The Royal Hawaiian (fondly known as The Pink Palace) and Halekulani. The Royal Hawaiian with its dark maze of corridors and bus loads of tourists flowing through them was never my speed, instead my heart always belonged the the famous Halekulani next door. Understated and chic, The Halekulani had the right amount of style and grace that the Hawaiians are loved for, all thrown together with a little splash of poolside glamour.

The Halekulani , “The House Befitting Heaven” was always my home in Waikiki and the gorgeous Joy Tomita executed all of my clients’ stays (and many of my own) with great style. I will always remember the beautiful breezy lunch at Orchid’s, the Halekulani’s famous beachfront restaurant, where Joy introduced me to best cake in Hawaii, the famous Halekulani Cake…Those of you who have tried it will understand my addiction to this creamy coconut cake…… yumm.
