Stripey Things!

, , , ,

I am addicted to stripes right now.

Breton Sweater

Thank you Mr Porter for helping me add to my collection with the perfect cotton-knit stripe, Breton sweater from Gant. I’ll be wearing this aboard my next flight (Virgin Australia to Los Angeles – Row 5 natch!) and it will double as the perfect evening sweater on the terrace of Le Sirenuse in Positano and JK Capri.

Most loved about this sweater is the cashmere-like knitted cotton and split cuffs. It’s all in the details!

Navy stripes always perk up your look, it’s like the white shirt … gives you an instant face lift and is an indispensable travel staple.

Weekend in Bangkok!

, , , , , , ,

The Siam PoolSo I jetted to Bangkok this weekend to celebrate the birthday of one my fabulous friends, Chrissie Lincoln (of Aman resorts).

Destination birthdays are all the go you know?

And what better location than The Siam, the ultra chic urban resort owned by the Sukosol family and under the expert hand of one of the world’s most accomplished GM’s, Mr Jason Friedman.
It has been 18 months since I had stayed at The Siam and I can only tell you that it has gotten even better. The gardens have matured and the luxe rooms are as sumptuous and elegant as I remembered. I took a Mae Nam Suite this time, a vast apartment like space complete with huge walk in bathroom, open bedroom (with the most comfortable beds ever!) and sitting room with a view across the hotel’s Pool Villa rooftops and onto the Chao Phraya river beyond.

The Siam Arrival
Super sleek service starts on arrival, Jason’s team line up at the entrance ready to make every wish possible. A butler to unpack on arrival … You got it!
The pool is divine, you really do feel like you are in a resort in the middle if the city. And don’t fear the hotel’s location , it’s on the river an hour by car upstream from the city centre but with the sleek Siam launch to whisk you up river in 30 minutes – you’ll be on the sky train in no time!

All bookings made with me include the following exclusive amenities:

  • Upgrade in arrival (subject to availability)
  • Breakfast daily
  • A one hour sunset cruise

I suggest stay of at least three nights to soak up the 20′s luxe vibe. It’s classy and sleek and you’ll love it!

  • Take the complimentary Siam launch in to Saphan Taksin BTS Station and connect with the Skytrain to get around he city – don’t even think of taking a car, you’ll be trapped in that hideous Bangkok traffic all day
  • Stay local, The Siam is traditional Bangkok – eat and shop locally – Jason will give you all the hot tips (he even prints his up to the minute “It List” of Bangkok to help you on your way - you’ll find this in your room.
  • If you do decide to head out one night , make a dinner reservation at Nahm (recently named on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list) and beprepared for some authentic Thai cuisine (think hot and spicy!). Afterwards head to the hottest new bar in town Maggie Choo’s, a Shanghai style speakeasy located underground at HotelNovotel Bangkok.

Raw Glamour on Koh Kood!

beach-residence-exterior12_262_573SONEVA KIRI

A whimsical, luxury resort set on the magical island of Koh Kood situated 350km from Bangkok and 80km from the Thai mainland and you’ll fly here via private plane from Bangkok – what better way to start the holiday??

I’d describe Soneva Kiri as “rustic chic” and while it lends itself to the ultimate luxury hideaway or honeymoon destination, it’s perfectly family friendly too.

soneva-kiri-resort-thailand-main-pool_38_507Soneva Kiri epitomizes the authentic luxury that Soneva resorts are famous for … think fabulous villas made of  recycled wood (it’s most definitely cast away glamour!), oodles of day beds and sun loungers adorning your own private pool and decadent, private outdoor bathrooms that help complete your desert-island-chic fantasies.

You’ll spend your days in the usual ways … snorkeling with a marine biologist, lazing on white beaches and enjoying spa treatments in the world class spa. The island even has its very own observatory where you can gaze at a sky ablaze with stars!

Dining is of course up to Soneva’s exacting standards with an emphasis on the fresh and fabulous. You can even dine in a bamboo pod, hoisted high above the tropical foliage where your meals will be delivered via the zip-line acrobatics of your personal waiter!

So here’s the deal..

  • Book with me (up until 30th June) and take advantage of a special bonus night offer and complimentary daily half board.    *Pay 5 nights receive 2 additional nights free (5+2) and then throw in complimentary meals. Valid for stays 1st June – 31st October 2014.

Why not team a week at Soneva Kiri with a weekend at The (divine) Siam in Bangkok? It’s one of the hottest hotels in the world with one of the sexiest riverfront pools you’ll ever see!

NOW is the time to book these beauties so contact me today!

This is luxury hideaway stuff and perfect for families. Five minutes from Megeve, a charming alpine village, you will find this chic mountain retreat in the perfect location … steps from the pistes, restaurants, bars and shops that Megeve has to offer.

It’s all about linen slip-covered furniture and cozy comfort here at Le Chalet Zannier!

Le Chalet 3

L’ APOGEE – France

Courchevel bound? Look no further than L’ Apogee, the groovy ski chalet made famous by the stylized interiors of India Mahdavi (India was also responsible for the interiors of CONDESAdf one of my preferred hotels in Mexico City). This is heightened design-glamour and with a Michelin starred restaurant, a Sisley spa on-site and private access to the slopes.

I know you won’t ever want to leave!

Apgee 2

Have I saved the best for last? From my friends at GHM (they of the Asian luxury hotel brand) comes The Chedi Andermatt- their first foray into the snow. Situated in one of Switzerland’s most sought-after ski stations, Asian architectural elements combined with traditional chalet style, re-invent the new luxury lodge.

Finished with dark wood and bare stone interiors you might move right in … you’ll feel right at home!

P.S I’m checking in this December to see what all the fuss is about.

It’s been a week of luxury villa rentals all around the world including Marrakech, and in my research I have also found some fab 5 star Riads like this one … La Villa des Orangers.

It’s Relais & Chateaux approved so you know its going to be good. Each suite has a terrace with breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlas mountains, and the Riad offers an azure pool, lush courtyards and Moorish fountains.
